Welcome to “Daddy’s Promise.”  In December of 2006 I wrote an article for Essence magazine about my wonderful relationship with my daughter Taylor. I was stunned by the positive response I received from the article. I have been blessed to have much of my work in the public’s eye during my career, but few things garnered the reaction I received from this article.

Women loved the idea of the close relationship Taylor and I share.  Many said it reminded them of the loving affection they have for their father.  Others, who hadn’t shared a warm kinship with their dad, suggested it gave them hope that this kind of relationship was possible. Many men said they were glad to read about the special bond that only a father knows when he speaks of his “little girl.”
